This well engineered yacht has the style and practicality few other boats of this size offer.

The boat is clearly aimed at couples with occasional guests who are looking for comfort and space in a 40 foot yacht.
La Aventura has been continuously invested in, kept up-to-date, well maintained and looked after throughout the 23 years with the current ownership.
James and Patti are Australians who truly have the travellers spirit, having extensively backpacked as young Australians throughout Europe in the early 1980’s. Together we worked and travelled in the US and Latin America before relocating permanently to the UK in 1985.
In London we each pursued our professional careers- James in Bar and Restaurant management and ownership, and Patti in Human Resources, specialising in Training and Development.
We were introduced to sailing in the chilly conditions off the south coast of England. We purchased our first yacht ‘Wanderlust’ a Hurley 24 in 1987 after completed our many Royal Yachting Association practical and theory courses. One cold January day in 1989 whilst attending the London Boat Show we purchased our second yacht and brand new nippy French designed Feeling 286. In ‘Moomba’ we built up our passage miles on holiday trips across the English channel to France, Belgium and Holland and enjoyed our weekends in and around the Solent. In 1992 we took six month leave from employment and began our travelling by boat, taking our house and home with us ‘taster’. We sailed ‘Moomba’ to La Harve in France, took down her mast, securing it on the deck and commenced our French Canal sojourn. We soon revelled in fresh baked croissants for breakfast, baguettes with local cheese for lunch and afternoon bicycle rides through the French countryside through vineyards and quaint villages. Our goal to reach the Med for three months of summer sailing along the south coast of France was achieved. Several evenings we contemplated our future with a good French wine in hand watching the sparkling sunsets. Decision and plans were made - we returned to the UK with a five year plan to work hard, make money and find the ideal cruising yacht to become our liveaboard and travelling home. ‘La Aventura’ became just that and more!
We purchased her from Jimmy Cornell in 1995, and have now sailed to 73 countries and covered approx. 50,000 miles. All passages have been without additional crew and sailed just two handed. Our adventures have included a circumnavigation of the UK. In the Baltic for two seasons, sailing into Eastern Europe and St Petersburg, Russia – before sailing into the Med in 2000, to spend 11 summers. One of our highlights was being participants in the 2010 Eastern Mediterranean Rally from Turkey including Cyprus, Syria, Lebanon and Israel.
In January 2012 La Aventura crossed her track back to the Canaries and then across the Atlantic to the Eastern Caribbean. The last 6 years have been spent exploring the Eastern and Western Caribbean, Panama, Cuba and east coast USA.
La Aventura is now back in the UK, having just completed a voyage from the Western Caribbean, back across the Atlantic via Bermuda and the Azores.
The desire to spend quality time with Pattis aging 90 year old Mum here in Australia has called us Sea Birds home to roost. We sailed ‘La Aventura’ back across the Atlantic from the Western Caribbean arriving in the UK in late July 2018. She is now actively FOR SALE currently located in Chichester Harbour, UK
This yacht would be more than ideal for an Australian or New Zealand couple looking to purchase a Bluewater Cruising yacht already located overseas to begin their own adventure. ‘La Aventura’ is Spanish for THE ADVENTURER - we are looking to now pass the baton on to you!
